Research has found that behind the blessing of creativity may lie the curse of faulty memory. Psychologists have found a connection between increased creative thinking abilities and false memory errors due to a common flexible and constructive memory system.
Being immersed in a story is not simply an act of escapism, it can shape your imagination, and your ability to empathize with others. Fiction, more than any other art form, has the power to take you suddenly into the mind of another person, and experience their perspective of the world.
Creativity is often about dichotomies and finding balance, and the relationship between attention and creativity is complex and often paradoxical, as attention can both facilitate and hinder different types of creative thinking.
There are two pathways toward achieving creativity: a flexibility pathway, which can be enhanced by activated positive mood states, and a persistence pathway which can be enhanced by highly activated negative mood states, both of which are important.
Creativity and intelligence are two of the most important aspects of human cognition, and research from both psychology and neuroscience has sought to understand the relationships between them.
